Boomerang Administrators: Manage your Holiday Schedule better!
You can manage your holiday coverage in advance of the holiday. Be sure that your holidays are posted in your facility profile. You can post the holiday shifts, now and fill them with resources according to your facility policies. Resources will see their holiday assignments. The auto scheduler will adjust for the posted holiday shifts during the scheduling period. All admins are asked to contact Brian at Boomerang support the first time you set this up. If you would like to set you holiday schedule NOW, please call Boomerang support at 602-320-7136.

Holiday Highlighter Feature There is a new Holiday Highlighter feature in Boomerang, designed to remind staff of a pending facility Holiday. The feature places a name tag on the day and a burgundy highlighted surround on the calendar. Since holidays are facility specific, they must be activated by the admin in order to be highlighted on Boomerang. Administrators: this function is found in: Manage Facility Information> Holidays Once you designate a holiday, in the Holiday Table, the highlighter turns on. Please call the help desk if you want a walk thru of this new feature

Text Messaging for Cancelled Shifts
Boomerang now provides TEXT messaging for cancelled shifts. You can use this new feature to mange "flex up" shifts, "on call" shifts and other shift cancellations to manage your schedule to your census better. First: Resources: edit your profile to include at least one text message capable phone, choose your wireless provider and update your account. Second: Staffers: post and manage your contingency shifts: in this case primarily flex up or on call shifts for additional resource planning that may need to be quickly cancelled due to census drop Staffers: when you decide to cancel this shift, click (x) to cancel and you will be shown a list of staff that are confirmed into that shift and their text message number ( if the staff member has entered the data): you can cancel all or some of the resources: they will receive a text message on their cell phone. ICS Introduces BoomerangMD
BoomerangMD is a new related product that schedules Physicians and Physician extenders such as PA and NP staff using the power of the internet to organize the process. The BoomerangMD product is a rules based program that deals with the unique needs of providers. BoomerangMD is best used for clinics, emergency centers, urgent care centers and hospitals that schedule large numbers of providers and only providers. BoomerangMD can schedule and hospitalist staff for in facility units . If enterprise wide scheduling is desired with combinations of physicians, providers, clerical staff, nurses and technical staff, Boomerang is the better choice.

Routine Downtime Schedule
Boomerang will be down each week on Saturday at midnight MST, for about 1 hour for routine maintainance and updates. Please plan for this in your daily routines.

Boomerang DOWN TIME Procedures
Your data is backed up off site every hour, however from time to time the internet or our servers can go down unexpectedly. We recommend that facility staffers and administrators establish a procedure that requires daily PRINTING of the "Daily Staffing Reports" on a rolling 3-5 day cycle. You could also print and save the "LIST format" from the main screen For example: on the first of the month print the first, second and third of the month. If MAJOR changes are done, then a new report should be run to replace existing back up copies. Store these in a clearly marked Boomerang Paper DOWN TIME documents space and let others who need to know where these documents exist. It would be rare that Boomerang or your internet connection was down for longer than 24 hours but you should always be prepared for 48 hours of down time.
